The Tennessee Valley Airgunners came together on a beautiful September day to shoot the 2007 Alabama State Field Target match. The weather couldn’t have been better for being outside to shoot or to do just about anything. As a match director I couldn’t have hoped for anything better, mild temperatures, low humidity, plenty of sunshine, and some interesting wind!
We had 20 shooters shoot the 60 shot match including Clifford Smith from Florida. It was nice that he could take the time to come to Alabama to give us all another lesson on how to shoot a spring gun! Cliff was on fire coming off of the very difficult Kentucky match and tore up our 36 difficulty course with his TX200. His 54 of 60 score was the top in Piston division and would have been the top score of the day except for Roz Sumpter who shot a score of 55 with his Theoben MFR to take top honors in PCP Division. Roz has been working with the MFR for most of the season and it looks like he may have got it figured out.
After the match we did something a little different, we went to a local restaurant to have our after match meal. We went to a local buffet that had a nice variety of food and we all had a good eat after a hard shot match. We had some ate, talked and then handed out the awards. Congratulations to Dottie Berry for taking top Lady honors and to Nikolai Thome for taking high Junior.
The 2007 Alabama state match was a success and on behalf of the club we would like to thank all those who took the time to come shoot with us. We are done shooting for the year, we will start up again next year in March and we hope to see you all then.
